Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using LOXN (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and Matěj Malý, the individual developer of LOXN, based in the Czech Republic, European Union.

Description of the app

LOXN is an iOS application that helps users reduce screen time and digital distractions by blocking access to selected apps on their device. The App uses Apple's Screen Time API to enforce app-blocking sessions, and supports multiple unlock methods.

Core features include:

• Blocking selected apps on your device using Apple's Screen Time framework
• Multiple unlock methods: NFC card/tag scan, Face ID / Touch ID (biometrics), or a press-and-hold button
• Configuring unlock timers: how long apps remain accessible after unlocking (1–10 minutes) and the cooldown period before you can unlock again (5–15 minutes)
• Scroll Myself to Sleep: a configurable wind-down unlock window intended for use before bed (10–45 minutes), after which your apps re-lock automatically. It can be used once per 22-hour cycle.
• Morning Lock: an optional automatic block in the morning that keeps distracting apps locked until you are properly up and about
• Focus Mode: timed deep-work sessions that keep selected apps blocked until the session ends
• Creator Mode: a temporary, partial unlock for moments when you need specific apps to create or post
• Emergency unlocks: a limited safety valve of up to 3 emergency unlocks per calendar month, each opening your apps for 2 hours before they automatically re-lock
• Commitment Lock: an optional setting that prevents app deletion while a blocking session is active. Off by default; you control whether it is enabled.
• Daily app budget and streaks: an optional daily limit on time spent in the apps you have chosen to block (not your total device screen time), with a consecutive-day streak, monthly streak freezes, and an image you can save or share
• Home screen widget and Live Activities showing your current streak or an active session

LOXN requires an active subscription. There is no free tier. A 3-day free trial is offered to new subscribers; when the trial or subscription ends, the app's features are no longer available until you subscribe again.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use LOXN. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. This matches the App Store age rating shown on LOXN's listing.

If you are under the age of 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

Sending feedback through the App is optional and involves giving us your email address. In some countries, including the Czech Republic, a person under 15 needs a parent or guardian's consent before providing personal data on that basis. If you are under 15, please ask them before sending feedback. Nothing else in the App requires it.

License to use the app

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use LOXN on any Apple device that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App or its content
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
• Rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or transfer the App to any third party
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the App's blocking or NFC mechanisms
• Use the App to block access to apps on a device you do not own or have permission to modify

Subscriptions and payments

LOXN requires a paid subscription ("Premium") to use. There is no free version and no free feature tier. Subscriptions are offered on terms displayed in the App and are processed exclusively through the Apple App Store via StoreKit.

• Plans: Premium is offered as an auto-renewable subscription on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis. The exact price and billing period for each plan are shown in the App before you purchase and depend on your App Store region.
• Free trial: New subscribers may be offered a 3-day free trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it automatically converts into a paid subscription at the price shown. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited if you purchase a subscription before it ends.
• Billing: Your subscription will be charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Billing recurs automatically at the end of each subscription period (within 24 hours before the period ends) unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours beforehand.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will not be charged again after that date.
• Refunds: All subscription purchases are processed and managed by Apple through the App Store. Any refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. Refund decisions rest solely with Apple in accordance with their terms and applicable consumer law. We do not issue refunds independently of Apple.
• Price changes: We reserve the right to change subscription prices. You will be notified in advance and can cancel before a price change takes effect.
• When a subscription ends: If your subscription lapses or your trial ends without converting, LOXN's features stop being available. Any apps that were blocked at that moment are released, so ending a subscription never leaves you unable to reach your own apps. Your settings and streak are kept on your device and resume if you subscribe again.
• Rewards: LOXN may offer optional rewards for long streaks (for example a free month, or a physical NFC keychain). These are goodwill extras, fulfilled manually and at our discretion, are not part of what you pay for, and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.

Unlock methods and screen time functionality

LOXN uses Apple's Screen Time API and optionally your device's NFC reader, biometric sensors (Face ID / Touch ID), or a press-and-hold interaction to deliver its core blocking functionality. By using these features, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

• If you use NFC as your unlock method, you are responsible for safeguarding your registered NFC card or tag. If you lose or damage your NFC card, you will be unable to unlock app-blocking sessions until you register a replacement or change your unlock method via the App's settings. We are not liable for any consequences of being unable to unlock a session due to a lost or damaged card.
• If you enable Commitment Lock in the App's settings, iOS will prevent the uninstallation of apps on your device while a blocking session is active. This feature is off by default and only activates if you explicitly turn it on. When enabled, it is an intentional security measure, including preventing removal of LOXN itself.
• The App relies on Apple's Screen Time framework. Its behaviour may be affected by iOS updates, Screen Time restrictions set by a device manager, or changes to Apple's APIs outside our control.
• Certain device configurations, including parental controls, MDM profiles, or iOS restrictions, may limit or prevent the App from functioning as expected.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to blocked apps and are not liable for any consequences of being locked out of an app during a session.
• While apps are blocked, notifications from those apps will not be delivered to your device. This is a consequence of how Apple's Screen Time API works and is expected behaviour, not a malfunction. You may miss messages, alerts, or other notifications from blocked apps during an active session.

User responsibility. Please read carefully. LOXN deliberately blocks access to apps on your device. You are solely responsible for choosing which apps to block, configuring your unlock method, and setting your own timers, cooldowns, and session durations. Matěj Malý and LOXN accept no liability whatsoever for any consequences, whether direct, indirect, incidental, or otherwise, that arise from or are connected to your apps being blocked. This includes, without limitation: missed messages, calls, notifications, or alerts; inability to access emergency services or information through a blocked app; missed deadlines, appointments, or obligations; financial loss; reputational harm; or any other outcome of any nature caused by an app being unavailable during an active session. You use LOXN entirely at your own risk and with full understanding that it is designed to be difficult to circumvent. That is its core function. If you are in a situation where unrestricted access to any app may be critical, you should not have that app in your block list.

Acceptable use

You agree to use LOXN only for its intended purpose: helping you manage your own screen time and digital habits on your own device.

You must not use the App to:

• Block apps on another person's device without their explicit consent
• Circumvent parental controls, device management policies, or enterprise restrictions
• Attempt to exploit, tamper with, or probe the App's unlocking mechanisms (NFC, biometrics, or hold) for unintended purposes
• Use the App in any way that violates applicable Czech, EU, or local laws

Feedback

If you submit feedback through the App, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that feedback for the purposes of improving the App. You will not be compensated for feedback you submit.

Intellectual property

LOXN and all related content, features, and functionality, including but not limited to the name, logo, design, and code, are owned by Matěj Malý and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

These Terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights to you. You may not use the LOXN name, logo, or branding without prior written permission, except that you are expressly permitted to use the App's name, logo, and screenshots for personal, non-commercial promotional purposes, such as sharing the App on social media, writing reviews, or recommending it to others. Any such use must accurately represent the App and must not imply any endorsement or affiliation beyond being a user. You may not misrepresent, exaggerate, or make false claims about the App's features, functionality, or results in any promotional content.

Disclaimers

LOXN is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

• The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
• The App will function correctly following iOS updates or changes to Apple's Screen Time or NFC APIs
• The blocking functionality will be effective in all circumstances or device configurations
• Any defects or errors will be corrected

Your use of the App is at your sole risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Matěj Malý shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of LOXN, including but not limited to loss of data, inability to access apps during a locked session, or reliance on the App's blocking features.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for your current subscription period, or €10, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable EU law.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Czech Republic.

If you are a consumer located in the EU, you may also have the right to access the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.

You may stop using the App and delete it from your device at any time. Deleting the App will remove all locally stored data. For subscription cancellation, see §05.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the App, applicable law, or our practices. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change.

Continued use of the App after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the App.

Apple App Store as third-party beneficiary

You and Matěj Malý acknowledge that these Terms are concluded between you and Matěj Malý only, and not with Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. However, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
